Enviromentally Friendly Cleaning Product

"Billed as a "disruptive new household cleaning product," Replenish is a durable bottle made from PET-1 (the most-recyclable type of plastic) that essentially comes to the consumer empty, with a "twist-on concentrate pod" containing concentrated cleaning solution. Fill the thing up with water, mix, and you're good to go. Once it's drained, you can buy more pods with different types of cleaning solution in them, and again, you refill it with water you've already got on tap. This means there's a lot less to truck around, as only 5% of the weight of your typical spray bottle is the actual active ingredient; the rest is plastic and water, needlessly adding to the carbon footprint.

Replenish was developed in conjunction with William McDonough's MBDC consultancy. Learn more about it here." (via core77)

Rice Baby!

AHAHAHA!! This is hilarious. My sister just had a baby several days ago so I have had babies on my mind lately. I could have one with my sisters baby's picture on it and carry it around as if she were in Chicago! That is ridiculous!

Danish Packaging Design

"Skærtoft Mølle is a small organic mill located in the south of Denmark. They mill their flour slowly on a stone grinder – not because they’re especially romantic or old-fashioned; but to retain all the nutrients in each grain. Beautiful design by Mega." (via notcot.org)

Happy Pills

I mentioned earlier that my friend Kristina B. studied abroad this summer in Barcelona. She thoughtfully brought back a present for me, these Happy Pills. Her gift was perfect since I have a strong sweet tooth. The candy is from Spain, which she filled herself and I have to say the candy was pretty delicious. I am most impressed, however, at the packaging. So charming! Thanks Kristina for being so considerate!

G PURE

I am seduced! Check out this sexy energy drink called G PURE, made by the company that makes every design fans favorite bottled water, VOSS.

G Pure's website also mentions, "The G Pure Energy team has worked with top mixologists, bartenders and cocktail consultants to find the most delicious cocktails featuring the unique taste of G Pure Energy. Easy pairings include both white spirits (gin, vodka, tequila, rum, cachaça, pisco, rhum agricole) and the more challenging spirits such as scotch, cognac, añejo tequila, and añejo rum." Sugar in Roman Numerals!

I am so excited that Notcot started their food blog, tasteologie! Good timing for thesis exploring. I wanted to share this post. Such a cute way of packaging! Gives me inspiration for other projects I am working on!

Candy made with the sweetest berries

"Designed by Neue: "Sugarfree Arctic Candy are made of berries growing north of the Arctic Circle. Cooled by the arctic wind and warmed by the midnight sun, these berries ripen at a slow pace and grow to be sweeter than other berries. Extreme weather makes extreme berries. These are the extra sweet berries Eivind Glad use to make this candy." (via thedieline.com)

Quaker Granola Eco-friendly Packaging

Thanks Kristina for sharing this with me!

"Quaker has eliminated the paperboard packaging and replaced it with an adhesive label. The adhesive label also has perforated lines that allows for an individual bar to be ripped from the package while the other bars remain together. Quaker’s Rip n’ Go packaging is quite the suitable packaging improvement, Quaker states the new package uses 33% less material than the standard paperboard package. Re-engineering their standard package also made the package more convenient for consumers; the adhesive packaging keeps the bars together until the last bar is finished rather than allowing them to float around in the kitchen cupboard or pantry."

Life Stinks!

I have been working on a packaging project with the Duggan sisters, an all natural, aluminum free deodorant company. Their main product, Lifestinks deodorant, is odorless and chemical free! As some of you may know, most of the deodorants you buy in the store have harmful chemicals that effect our immune system. Lifestinks is made from Australian essential oils such as tea tree oil and lavender oil. These oils kill the bacteria in your pits and cause no harm to the immune system. For those of us who are extra stinky they make a 20% stronger deodorant. I have been using this product for a month now and I recommend it to everyone!
