Nooka watch

"In a bid to ensure their packaging is not thrown away, watch manufacturer Nooka has partnered with design brand SiliconeZone to produce a rather unusual product: Packaging that you save and use to eat out of. Nooka's new gem box is microwave-safe and harkening back to the days when the impoverished would save jam jars to use as drinking glasses, though the cooking-grade silicone used here is decidedly more hi-tech." Enviromentally Friendly Cleaning Product

"Billed as a "disruptive new household cleaning product," Replenish is a durable bottle made from PET-1 (the most-recyclable type of plastic) that essentially comes to the consumer empty, with a "twist-on concentrate pod" containing concentrated cleaning solution. Fill the thing up with water, mix, and you're good to go. Once it's drained, you can buy more pods with different types of cleaning solution in them, and again, you refill it with water you've already got on tap. This means there's a lot less to truck around, as only 5% of the weight of your typical spray bottle is the actual active ingredient; the rest is plastic and water, needlessly adding to the carbon footprint.

Replenish was developed in conjunction with William McDonough's MBDC consultancy. Learn more about it here." (via core77)

Family lamps

"We were inspired and created a series of small lights that bear the natural. The natural light form the glade and the natural wood as their growth rings similar to its descent in the tall tree as it is made of. The lamp becomes a separate entity, the materiality is clear and when you hold it in your hand you would never want to let go." (via Note design)

Toothbrush Holders

"I saw these cute little toothbrush holders from Kontextür. I’m always covering our built-in toothbrush holders with tiny vases of flowers (I guess my lack of dental priorities have been staring me in the face for a while) and these standing holders are perfect for me. The shiny gold option? Totally up my alley. The holders come in gold, silver or nickel and hold razors as well as toothbrushes, so if you’re in the market for something that will remind you to brush more often, click here to check out (and buy) one of these Viktor toothbrush holders from Kontextür. Happy brushing!" (via design sponge)

Alexander Hulme Plate Concept

"Gotta love the Breakable dish concept, by London-based designer Alexander Hulme. Drop it and yes, it shatters, but at least your accident yields two smaller dishes you can still use." (via core 77)

Takeya Glass Water Bottle w/ Silicon Sleeve

Is there really a perfect water bottle out there? I am not sure I have found one yet. I have gone through several over the past couple of years and none of them have been the perfect one. Can you relate? With so many plastic bottles that are claimed to leech toxins into your water, it is hard to trust what is on the market. However, I've recently seen water bottles being made out of glass with a silicon sleeve that protects the glass from breaking. I am intrigued. The bottle featured above is a beautiful example of glass and silicon bottles. Perhaps it is worth considering! (via notcot.org)

Piggy by Bruce Tharp of Materious

Piggy by Bruce Tharp of Materious "We believe that this simple product, Piggy, can truly make the world a better and more compassionate place.

Piggy helps teach kids about charitable giving, with the hopes of inspiring new generations of caring, sharing, philanthropic citizens.

With 12,000 children born each day in the US, imagine the social impact if just a fraction of them learned powerful lessons
of gratefulness and kindness to others.

We suggest that children learn to set aside 10% of their income to charity. Parents can discuss with their kids about who they would want to help most. When the baby bank is filled, a special event can be planned to deliver the money to the charity, or a trip to the bank and post office to mail a check.

The goal is to create positive feelings of doing good will make an indelible mark upon their character and place philanthropy as an important and intrinsic aspect of their life."

Bamboo iphone case

This trip to Portland has been very enchanting. I've started fantasizing about moving back there. I miss the D.I.Y spirit that everyone seems to have. There are so many wonderful handcrafted items done by local artists. It definitely is the city I group up in. I am inspired from this trip and hope to make more things this next year.

While I was in Portland, I had the opportunity to help out Engrave, one of the companies that helps produce the product featured above. This is a bamboo iphone case that is part machined, part handcrafted by Grove. Then it is taken to Engrave to be laser engraved and packaged. You can personalize the case by engraving your own image or you can select from one of the artist series.

The packaging is one of my favorite parts about this product. It comes in a frame that is the left over scrap from when it was machined. Once opened you can use the frame as a picture frame! Very eco friendly!

You can purchase one here:
http://www.grovemade.com

Because each product is handmade and the demand for the product is high you should expect 8-10 weeks to receive the product after you have ordered it.
